I will begin by saying that the original Cult of Ecstasy Tradition Book was my favorite of The Cult of Ecstasy aren’t just the “party mages” one might expect from. When the mages get to the party, though, they find out that there’s a very specific point to all the revelry. The Cult of Ecstasy does use things like drugs and music. When interfaced with the Lakishim the mage is briefly like unto a god, and can Cult of Ecstasy mages only suffer half the penalty of other mages for having.

Members of the Cult have always been visionaries and rebels, even more so than other mages.
In the pressing throng of humanity sharing a common beat, these muses reach out for the primal pulse of the mob. The Cult originated in India as the Seers of Chronos then spread quickly across the world, adapting to the cultures it encountered and their ideas about experience and transcendence.

The Aghoris are a centuries-old faction near Bengali in India, who practice mutilation, pain and destruction as tools to surpass ascenwion mortal body.
While they may sometimes use sex and dangerous substances to push the limits of their knowledge, they do so of their own free will, and they do not involve anyone who does not wish to be involved.
Time remains the Tradition’s particular area of expertise, and Cultists seem to have an innat e understanding of and control over how they and others perceive the passage of seconds, even years. The Cult’s ascenison incarnations spread from mystery visionaries in the Near East and India. Outsiders see them indulge in all manner of excesses without reservation, then turn around and discuss the roots of that behavior and other serious issues without seeming to miss a ecstzsy.

Notify administrators if there is objectionable content in this page. Morbidity has its limits, though. There exist a few small sects within the Cult, primarily of extremists or those who feel the usefulness of some organization.
While ecshasy may seem on the surface to be totally without center, the Cult actually searches for those with a very strong sense of self, however well hidden this strength may be.
The K’an Lu Taoists contrast with the Akashic Brotherhood as a sect that practices extreme passion and physical pleasure as opposed to the asceticism of the monks.
They limit themselves needlessly. Chaos and rebellion must be directed somehow, or the ascejsion just swirls around in a sort of tornado and does no one any good. Every Cultist character indulges in some sort of vice, and he must take the opportunity to indulge at least once per game session.
Ascrnsion Europe and the Americas, some Cultists continue the decadent practices of the late Hellfire Clubs, moving in secret circles of “gentlemen’s societies” complete with mutilating initiation rites, intoxicants and damaging drugs and painful mind-games and emotionally manipulative “pleasures”. The point of such stat es is to increase understanding and empathy, not to kill it. By the Renaissance, the Ecstatics had become recognized by the other Traditions, who labeled them Seers.
What’s more, their mastery of Time magic is often as much of a cklt as it is a blessing.
Shift your persepective, and obstacles melt away. A dying art, focused only on their past. To them, the heartbeat of many people moves beyond the mind of the one; the actions taken in the heat of frenzied dance reflect basic human impulse unfettered by reasoning or prudish mores. Sensory experiences such as music, mind-altering substances, extreme emotional highs, pleasure and pain are all experiences that have merit to the Cult of Ecstasy, and many outsiders are surprised to find just how much the Ecstatics value unpleasant sensations as much as they do pleasurable ones.

Cult of Ecstasy – Reality Deviants ~ A Mage: The Ascension Story
Rooted on the value of experience and cukt, the Cult of Ecstasy believes that magic is born from the mastery of the senses and understanding that things such as obstacles only exist as we perceive them.
The experience of new sensations is valuable, and even unpleasant ones have some use down the line.
Usually this indulgence has some sort of downside. Peeking into the future and fiddling with coincidences make you the ultimate instigator of a chain of goodwill, a Pay-it-forward series that you plan to keep going for as long as possible. Members of this group tend to have an intellectual streak, using debate and discussion as tools just as much as action.
When they do choose to fight, however, the Cultists can be some of the most effective and unnerving foes in existence, as their mastery of the time-stream allows them to react to tactics with uncanny accuracy or even pre-empt their enemies entirely.
