I never thought of the X series Crown stuff.

I am definitely still happy with them and my mixes hold up well against similar mixes on newer equipment. Do not post pictures of text here, they will be removed. There hasn’t been any major technological breakthroughs in the speaker world besides taking what’s in your amp and putting it inside the speakers.
Thanks for the suggestion.
JBL reference monitors self. Alesis RA Amp Manual https: Submit a new text post. Any input is appreciated. I have a set that I’m using as my main monitors and I’m just not sure how imperative it is that I upgrade.
I have asked around for some time and have never found someone familiar with them to tell me for sure how they stack up against the newer moderately priced stuff. 406 you know them and are happy with them, I wouldn’t rush to replace them – on the contrary, proceed with caution, as you could easily end up worse off than you started. That’s a great point about familiarity.

I’m not a big fan of KRKs. All that considered any disadvantages you may hear from your speakers age will be very audible hisses or hums which are easy fixes and not uncommon in the newer stuff. They’re a bit bottom heavy so the pair I had jlb currently on the tv behind the bar with an old TEAC amp. I would add that you’re not going to see any super improvements in mid range gear, if you want to get monitors save up and get something really good. Get one of these and you’ll never need to buy another reference amp again.
I’m not looking to replace them, rather seeking someone with some knowledge of them. What amp would you recommend? If you have good cables and clean power the only thing that really matters is crossovers and the speakers themselves two things that haven’t really changed over time.
If you sense any issues or just have some time on your hands you may want to take nbl the amp and monitors and clean them up with high percentage isopropyl alcohol and contact cleaner I’d definitely hit up the pots and check any soldered parts. Thanks for the info!
Welcome to Reddit, the front page of the internet.
They make movies sound awesome! They sound good and I’m able to mix relatively well on them, but I’m wondering if I’m living in the stone age by not upgrading these to a set of newer mid-range KRK’s or something. I don’t have personal experience with these but I’ve never heard anything bad about them, and their specs look perfectly reasonable. Even a manufacturer you could recommend would be great.
Are you dissatisfied with the mixes you’re getting out of them? How Did They Do That? Also, your gear if your gear is reaching the twenty to thirty year mark replacing or at least checking the capacitors is a good idea because that tends to be their shelf life. If you were to try a better amp you might be surprised.

Unless you need a bigger one, in which case you’ll probably just get another one and run them in bridged mode. My monitors are each 8 ohm, so it looks like w 8ohm per side for the X I’m also not a fan of Alesis amps.
If your posture sucks or you keep moving around your going to screw up your monitors mojo any way. I’m a fan of active bi-amped systems myself; however, the availability of active equipment doesn’t necessarily make passive gear irrelevant. Here are pdf’s of the manuals for reference. I think you’re absolutely right though, the best plan is to add a second pair in time and not replace these outright, risking screwing myself. That touches on what I was wondering; if new active systems have become so superior to older passive systems, that I’m hurting myself by not upgrading.
Log in or sign up in seconds. I do know these things quite well. The is still a nice speaker, I’d keep them. I believe the series was pretty popular back in the day, so someone has to have used these and compared them to others.
