Half World does not cheap out on how broken and seemingly irredeemable people can get, nor hoto how awful these people can make the world.

Like those two tales, Half World is a story about a human entering a fantastical world in order to find redemption, and also getting the bugaboos frightened out of them! Know that the actions of one girl can change everything! The prose is just as good as the first book and Ahlf World remains a creepy and atmospheric environment for most of the action.

The story is quite violent in certain scenes but not in a gratuitous way. I don’t hear much buzz about this little gem, though it deserves hoto. That’s when Gee realizes that nothing is as it seems.

Want to Read saving…. The way she describes the setting is like a painting that comes alive and readers will feel transported into it. I wish this story could be made into an animation because I know I would want to watch it.

She is out of the picture pretty much and instead, this time around we are following Baby G. The novel is filled with more questions than answers about what exists beyond death. The book was still worth reading, I just didn’t love it. Gee struggles to be good when so many obstacles get in his way.

But Melanie has already been living in a half world, of sorts; it is a world frequently occupied by impoverished and misunderstood children who must carve out a safe space for themselves when neither home life nor their school provide it.

Will she make it out of Half World alive, with all her fingers intact? And soon she learns that more is at stake than just her mother’s fate I’ve read better and I’ve read worse.

But do to the prologue wherein a pregnant woman escapes from Half-Life World, we know why her mother is sick all the time, and that Melanie is a prophesied child who might be able to heal the sundered links between our world, the half-life world where we should work out our earthly terrors, and the world of the spirits.

Melanie finds herself in a world devoid of colour trying to find her mother in the process.

But not without help. All in all, a truly amazing book, and one you will enjoy if you like the combination of heartfelt, sentimental coming-of-age story with an unlikely hero, and the disturbing, twisted sense of the macabre, where there is no black and white, word many, many shades of grey.

Melanie is inadequate, and that’s what makes this book great. Goto’s tale is fascinating, enchanting, and yet equally horrifying in its monstrous depictions of real and fantastical daemons.


Fenn — skinnier haalf it is wide A notable book with a character you should take the time to get to know. Luckily, this intro is short and the action quickly takes off. Not to mention a lot of parts of this story was very dark. Glueskin has a vested interest in not allowing the realms to reunite. Thought I’d give this author another try as Ariel really liked it.

There are a few things that were frustratingly unexplained, especially view spoiler [how a live baby was conceived in Half World in the first place, worod it was supposed to be impossible hide spoiler ] but I liked the overall conception. Any hal reading Half World will love this quick simple fantasy and will want more! The ending made me teary-eyed.
