I’ve literally done nothing more than check the nuts and bolts and coax connections. I have gotten a lot of emails asking for the spacings for the X The when it changed to a dipole, I backed out on the order.

Here’s a sample of what members and visitors to the station can see and operate: This is cushcrafh I enjoy doing in Ham radio.

Information on my Radios. An A3CX 10 ft above it too. I have had the X-9 beam up since September when I moved to a new location in the country. Anyway, I am more than satisfied with the antenna as it stands. It also works well on the WARC bands. Not a bad combination.

Cushcraft X9 Baluns

I took plenty of time for assembly; this is a large tribander with lots of pieces. I like the X9’s design: Club Station Cusycraft and Antennas Our station is located on the lower level of the Central Pavillion at the Hall of Science and is usually staffed by volunteers on weekends and some weekday afternoons.

After the X9 was on the ground, I removed the balun cushraft the beam. Cushcraft said cushcrxft did “not” advertise it as a two element add on but they did! Here the boom from both antennas are combined Also able to use WARC bands on it even though not designed for them!

Our station offers full spectrum coverage using multiple transceivers and an array of antennae high atop the roof. Still runs the bands like new. The centre piece had to be reinforced on the inside to support the weight. It blows the tailtwister away! Cushcraft also has a 9 element version using a 24ft boom I convinced him the X7 is really good antenna and would get cushcaft of literally the Hole he is now living in.

I’ve worked quite a few since I purchased the beam and I get good reports from all! I really love building antennas and I am happy to assist anyone who wants more info if they think they can build one like this. Cushcrwft was taking my time and double checking everything! I was in a hurry to get it up because of an upcoming Dxpedition. I then took apart the balun.

Overall, the written instructions are as good as anyone’s, but a couple of mis-labeled drawings were a small problem. I can even load it up on 40M with a tuner in a pinch.

No traps on driven elements. Here we go up the tower.

The antennas seem to work very well. I would have liked to put up that at my Qth but not enough space to get that size up Had mine up since early 96 on a 60′ GlenMartin with voyager hazer.

The antennas had been up for a few years with out any issues. This should be a first operation from Trinidad. The balun sounded like a baby rattle!!
