The quick trip she’d envisioned for the funeral turns into weeks as she learns her father’s business is suddenly hers to manage. The setup could have made for a very good book, and if you geri just looking for an easy, no brainer book that demands nothing of you except to just enjoy, then it is ok.
I liked the plot. And fingers intertwining, that too. The slow realization from the LI that she’s not that straight is fairly okay. There was some cliche- but it was sweet and that was really all I am after in this genre Now 15 years later, Jackie returns to Pine Springs after the death of her father. This book gave me hope when I needed it; hope that things can work out okay in the long te, even if it takes a while.
Usually, with lesbian novels, you have a choice between good writing and poor story or poor writing and verri story. Also by This Publisher. But was it ever meant to be more than friends? There was a problem filtering reviews right now.
Her family was the largest employer in the county, owning Pine Springs Lumber, and her father was mayor of this small town. I was sad to finish the book and lose that world. Gee I wish all my problems could be so easily turned into wealth and success. And she is also again face-to-face with the woman who, as a teen, had been Jackie’s first crush.

So, with a hundred dollars in her pocket and a one-way bus ticket out of town, Jacqueline was told not to come back until she had come to her senses. The ending seemed very rushed, compared to how long and repetetive the build up had been.
But then the sex scene was meh, the obligatory problem keeping them apart overly dramatic, and the ending too abrupt with nothing resolved but that the LI has decided she can’t live without the MC. A great story of making something of yourself after your beaten down by the people who are supposed to love you unconditionally and reconnecting with old friends that you left behind because you didn’t think they would love you for who you really are.
Unfortunately the ending was extremely abrupt and left a lot to be desired.

No twists, turns or surprises. I fell in love with the characters very quickly and memorised some of their lines, which is always a good sign for me.

She collects things nature offers, like an unusual pinecone, colorful rocks, or an abandoned bird feather. I was looking forward to some confrontation between Jackie and Madeline, but it never came. Amazon Second Chance Pass it on, trade it in, give it a second life.

Loved the story and the characters. Her family the most prominent in the small lumber town.
