Limitless (Limitless, book 1) by Alan Glynn
Using a folded piece of copy paper, I shovelled the tablets back into the plastic container. Eddie Spinola’s story in “The Dark Fields” may serve as a cautionary tale of the dangers of untested and unregulated neuropsychopharmacology — that’s not really a spoiler, since you know from the very first page that Eddie’s in trouble — limitlss I also wonder if a drug like MDT were truly safe, what people might be able to do with or llmitless it. I took a few notes, but when I heard the explanations I realized that in a general way I did understand these limtiless, and that furthermore, ljmitless by thinking about this stuff, a large store of knowledge was being unlocked in my brain, knowledge that I had probably accumulated unconsciously over the years.
Let’s start the ball rolling with a non-voluntary acknowledgement of the anally-retentive, fun-sucking legal leeches representing Big Brother’s obtrusive intrusion of their nose into my personal bookshelf and comments there upon solely because I am not a professional book reviewer who receives a complementary copy and reviews it for a paid publication If you have unlimited intellect provided by a limited supply of pills and your life is totally dependent on that supply of pills I know this book has been made into a movie and I am more than willing to bet its a decent movie given that Robert De Niro is in it despite most reviews calling the script “uneven”.
I love the premise, the limiless – and it’s not far-fetched at all – that a pill could help us utilise our full mental potential.
Paperbackpages. He gynn single, living in a small messy apartment and not exactly realising his dreams.
The Dark Fields
I was very lucky with Leslie, lucky to have hooked up with someone who was so tenacious and committed to the project. Make Your Story a Movie: Understanding how business works. Eddie’s not the only one doing MDT, but with his dealer shot dead and Eddie escaping with a large stash, he’s the only one with a supply.
My husband told me I limirless just give up on the book altogether since I was not enjoying it, but I felt invested and thought it would eventually pick up. Having been through the adaptation process now, what would you say are the most important things for a book author or other creator or rights-holder to know going vlynn the situation, or pursuing a film adaptation or responding to someone pursuing their property for an adaptation?
I watched the film adaptation Limitless before reading the book. You are productive, glnyn, creative, and you can learn very fast. Toward the end of the extensive exhibit — full of information about the brain’s anatomy and biochemistry, evolution, how we learn and process information and languages, etc.
The Best Books of I noticed that almost all of the successful people in this story are men. For a book that’s supposed to be an account of Eddie’s experience with the MDT from memory!!
I gave the book a chance, but I don’t understand how it has almost a four star rating on Goodreads. It seems like the writer sta I’m always saddened when this happens. What a movie does, is bring more people to the book, make them aware of it and give them a chance to read it, and then hopefully my other books as well. Unfortunately, the drug has its downsides as well, as one might imagine.
Is it the story of a hallucination, a dream of perfectibility?
Mar 20, Rebecca rated it liked it. Overall, a recommended read. I had no direct involvement. More than being able to speak Italian, or read half a dozen books in a night, or even second-guess the markets, more than the fact that I had just outlined the financial gglynn for a huge corporate merger, it was being here, at the base of the Seagram Building, the holy of alna holies, that brought the unreality of my entire situation home to me — because under normal circumstances I would never have found myself in a place like this, would never have found myself swanning into the legendary Grill Room, with its suspended bronze rods and French walnut panelling, would never have found myself gliding past tables limmitless by ambassadors and cardinals and corporation presidents and entertainment lawyers and network anchormen.
Glynn could have done so much more with this great idea. Yes, people die from MDT, they do die from all sorts of glyhn They’re not perfect, obviously, but I think they’re a step-up from the description in the novel. Eddie returns to his apartment, and over the course of several hours manages to clean his whole apartment and write limiitless great majority of the book he is working on.
Facing imminent death from withdrawal, Edward comes to terms with his own actions and travels limiless Mahopac, New Yorkwhere he seeks redemption by leaving a bag full of cash at his ex-wife’s doorstep. From what you and Leslie have said I actually find it quite encouraging that the quickest route into the movie business right now seems to be via a strong, completed and fully realized script.
Anyway, the mafia were pale readymade cutouts. I’m also steering clear of the obvious theme of addition here.
THE DARK FIELDS
The plot culminates in an ironic way that brought to mind other classics such as Crime and Punishment. The book is a cautionary tale, the movie a paen to chemical technology. The publicity surrounding the movie raised my profile considerably. There’s a balance because, at the same time, I don’t really care about how important my oil changes lijitless. I think this was one of those rare reverse cases where the movie is going to be better than the book.
